Where Are the Washcloths?
This morning I mastered the alarm clock and woke up on time to meet Leonidas, who took me to Port Piraeus at 6:30 a.m. The line to get on the ferry was obscene. I’m thankful for the advice my cousin gave me to reserve a seat. People arrive early to get a seat with a table. My seat was like a recliner, which suited me well for the journey. It was a 4 hour ferry ride from Athens to Paros. I worked a little and read some of my book, Nonviolent Communication.

Upon arrival to Paros, I bought a huge bottle of water because you cannot drink enough water out here. And the water is cheap cheap!! I then bought my bus ticket to take me to Piso Livadi. Paros comprises of several small towns. The activities you’re interested in might determine where you stay. In my case, I wanted an affordable hotel with a seaside view, and Arkas Inn presented as the top candidate.
My room was everything I hoped for! I only cared about the view. Once I settled a bit I threw on my bathing suit and headed to Fisilanis. A highly recommended restaurant right on the beach.
I found a table on the sand and ordered the Greek salad, tzasiki, and Mamos, a beer. For the next three hours I ate, drank, and sunbathed. It was lovely. The ocean is just as exciting to me as the mountains. Being near one, the other, or both brings me peace.
I headed back to the hotel to shower and prep for dinner. As I’m getting ready to shower I notice, yet again, there are no washcloths. This is fascinating to me! Back in Athens there were no washcloths offered. I didn’t pack my loofah because I assumed I’d have washcloths here. I’m going to have to track down a sponge of some sort.
The receptionist at the front desk was kind enough to recommend dinner options-both of which were a quick walk away and by the dock. I chose Halaris. I ordered an appetizer that consisted of soft cheese wrapped in phyllo, fried, and served with a honey, fig, balsamic reduction. It tasted like dessert. I asked my server for a dinner recommendation and he suggested the tuna tartare. Wow! So fresh!
After dinner, I walked around the town a little before retiring to my room. Apparently, I am very tired because I fell asleep in the middle of typing this post. Ha! And sorry there aren’t a lot of pictures yet. The Internet is a bit touch and go.
Until tomorrow!
